Privacy Policy
JGB Tools (this website and the JGB Tools app) is run by JGB Solutions, based in Canada. We built it to collect as little as possible. Here is exactly what that means.
Last updated October 19, 2026
The short version
- No account and no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Most tools run entirely on your device. Nothing you type into them reaches us.
- We collect a small amount of data, mostly anonymous counts, to understand how the tools are used and make them better.
- We never sell or rent your information. The website shows ads from Google; in the EU, UK and Switzerland they are only personalised if you agree.
Why we collect data
The data described on this page has one purpose: making JGB Tools better. It helps us see which tools people use and how, find and fix problems, decide what to improve or build next, and protect the service from abuse.
We use this data internally only, to improve the platform. If we ever want to collect something new, we will update this policy first.
What each tool does with your data
| Tool | What happens to what you enter |
|---|---|
| Text Anyone | Runs on your device. The number and message go straight to the messaging app you pick. Your recent numbers are saved only on your device. |
| Is It Down? | The address you enter is sent to our server, which visits the site to test it. We keep your 50 most recent checks (site, result, time and your approximate country and region) so you can see them again. Each site also gets anonymous totals, like how often it was checked and found down. |
| QR Code Generator | Runs entirely on your device. What you put in a QR code is never sent to us. |
| YouTube Thumbnail Downloader | Thumbnails load directly from YouTube, so YouTube receives those requests. On the website we keep your 12 most recent videos (video ID, title and channel) so you can reopen them. |
| Password Generator | Runs entirely on your device. Passwords are never sent to us or stored. |
| What's My IP | We read your IP address and approximate location from your request only to show them to you. They are not saved. |
| Image Compressor | Runs entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded. |
| Link Preview Checker | The address you enter is sent to our server, which loads that page the way social apps do. On the website we keep your 10 most recent links so you can check them again. |
You can wipe any saved history with the Clear button next to it. In the app, history is kept on your device only.
Usage counts
To know which tools are useful, we count actions per day, for example “3 QR codes downloaded” or “5 chats opened on WhatsApp”. Counts can be split by approximate country and region. They never include your IP address, a device ID, or anything you typed.
On the website we also use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits, and Vercel Speed Insights to measure how fast pages load on visitors’ devices. Neither uses cookies, and we remove anything after the page address (such as a site you are checking) before anything is sent.
Ads
The website is free because it shows ads: one ad on each tool page, provided by Google AdSense. There are no ads on the home page, the guides or these legal pages, and none in the app.
Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show these ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure them and prevent fraud. If you allow it, they can also personalise ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked first, in Google’s consent message, and can say no; non-personalised ads are then shown instead.
Ads never receive what you type into a tool, and we don’t send Google any information about you. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can turn off personalised ads from Google in My Ad Center, and from many other ad companies at youradchoices.com.
Error reports
When something breaks on the website or in the app, an error report is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. A report says what went wrong in the code, where it happened (the page, without anything after the page address, or the app screen), your browser or your device model, its operating system and the app version. Sentry also receives your IP address with the report, and the approximate location (country and city) it works out from it. We use this only to find and fix problems. Reports never include cookies, your device’s name or anything you typed into a tool, and they are kept for up to 90 days.
Your IP address
Like every website, our servers see your IP address when you connect. We use it to:
- show it to you in What’s My IP (not saved);
- attach it to error reports (see above), kept with the report for up to 90 days;
- work out your approximate country and region for the usage counts and Is It Down history (the city and IP are not saved);
- stop abuse with rate limits. For this we keep a scrambled, one-way version of your IP for up to two days, never the IP itself.
Who else handles data
We rely on a few service providers, who only process data to run the service for us:
- Vercel: hosts the website and API, and provides the page-visit analytics and page-speed measurements.
- Neon: hosts our database.
- Google (AdSense): shows the ads on tool pages, under Google’s own privacy policy.
- Sentry: receives the error reports described above.
- YouTube: serves the thumbnails you look up.
- The messaging apps you open from Text Anyone (WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, SMS, Viber) under their own policies.
These providers may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to local laws.
How long we keep it
- Tool history: until it is replaced by newer entries (the limits above) or you clear it.
- Rate-limit data: up to two days.
- Error reports: up to 90 days.
- Usage counts: kept, since they don’t identify anyone.
Your choices and rights
You can use every tool without giving us any personal information. You can clear saved history yourself at any time. You may also ask us to access, correct or delete information related to you, or ask a question about this policy, by writing to services@jgb.solutions. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the privacy regulator where you live, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
JGB Tools is a general-audience service. It isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
