Common questions

What is an IP address?
It’s the address the internet uses to send data back to you. It usually belongs to your internet provider or mobile network and can change from time to time, especially on phones.
Why is the location wrong?
IP locations are estimates. They often show your provider’s nearest hub rather than your town, and a VPN, proxy or iCloud Private Relay will show the location of that service instead.
IPv4 or IPv6?
IPv4 addresses look like 203.0.113.7; IPv6 ones are longer, like 2001:db8::1. Many connections have both — we show the one your browser used to reach us.
Do you keep my IP?
No. It’s read from your request, shown back to you and forgotten. We only count that the tool was used, with an approximate country and region, and no IP.

Your public IP address shows at the top straight away — there’s nothing to type.

  2. Copy it if needed

  3. Check the details

See your approximate location, time zone and device details, and whether they match.

  • Turned a VPN on or off? Press “Refresh” to see your new address.
  • The location is an estimate based on your internet provider, not your exact address.
